The Department of Agriculture has designed a 30 hours value-added course (VAC) on 'Micro-propagation of Gerbera Plant' for the Agriculture students to give them a broad idea about plant tissue culture. The course commenced from August 5, 2022. Prof. S. Dutta Gupta, Former Professor, Agricultural Biotechnology, AGFE, IIT Campus, IIT Kharagpur, is the Guest Speaker for the VAC.

Dr. Koushik Biswas, Assistant Professor and HOD, Department of Agriculture, BWU and Dr. Ria Mukherjee, Assistant Professor, Department of Agriculture, BWU are the course coordinators.

This course aims at offering comprehensive hands-on training for learning the basics with insights into the laboratory practices along with exposure to 'lab-to-land' transfers.

The VAC consists of four modules that include theory and a major portion comprises hands-on training. The students who are interested in pursuing Micro Propagation Technology in Flowering Plants are greatly benefitted from the value-added course.
