An online workshop on Responsive Web Layout Designing was organised by the department of Multimedia, Brainware University on May 22, 2021. The objective of the event was to demonstrate to the audience the designing process of an effective Responsive Web Layout Designing from the receiving of the specifications from the client to conceptualising, designing and delivering the layout. To grace the occasion, the guest speaker Mr. Sreyam Chatterjee, Senior Web Designer of Webskitters Technology Solution Pvt Ltd. was invited. The session was attended by all the students of the Multimedia department.

After an initial introduction, Mr. Chatterjee took over the session with a presentation on different web layout designs. He said, “Responsive Web Layout Designing is the basic tool of web page creation that can be used. The web page represents the web presence of a brand. Hence a lot of thought needs to be applied to design an effective Web Layout.”

Having discussed the core concepts, the speaker focused on the development process of a web layout design. “The practice includes a combination of various grids and layouts, images and queries. As the user switches from their laptop to iPad, the website should automatically switch to accommodate for resolution, image size and scripting abilities,” explained Mr. Chatterjee.

The guest concluded his demonstration by emphasising on its relevance in the job market. “It provides great opportunities to the innovative designers,” he pointed out. This was followed by an interactive session between the speaker and the participants culminating with a vote of thanks from the coordinator, Mr. Somnath Mullick of the Multimedia department.
