Industry visits are essential for the students so that they can upgrade themselves with the skills required for the industry. The Department of Biotechnology organised an industry visit to InBOL Healthcare, Kolkata on 26th August. Prof. Sankar Ghosh and his team interacted with the faculty members of the department and the students during the session.

During the visit, the students got an idea of the barcoding system and witnessed various molecular biology instruments and techniques. The career path in the discipline git clearer to the students as they interacted with the industry insiders. The visit was an enriching experience for the students as they got an idea of how the organisation functions.

In this context, it must be noted that InBOL is the world’s first DNA barcode-based molecular platform to usher customized solutions for identifying DNA-based alterations and their influence on healthcare, genetic disease outcomes and biodiversity.

18 students from M.Sc Biotechnology and M.Sc Microbiology took part in the industry visit. Dr. Sayantan Ghosh, HOD, Department of Biotechnology; Dr. Srabani Talukdar, Assistant Professor, Department of Biotechnology and Dr. Apurba Das, Assistant professor, Department of Biotechnology accompanied the students at the industry visit.
