PCI President Dr. Montu Patel attends National Conference at Brainware University

The Brainware University students get industry exposure alongside the academic curriculum. The university hosts a number of seminars and conferences to bridge the gap between industry and the institute. The Department of Pharmaceutical Technology in collaboration with the Indian Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists and Technologists (IAPST) and Association of Pharmaceutical Teachers of India (APTI) organised a 2-day National Conference on 'Current Scenario and Challenges in Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research' on May 28 and 29, 2022.

Dr. Montu Kumar Patel, President, Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) participated on the second day of the conference. Pharmacy is such a discipline that requires implementation of the knowledge for the progress of innovations. However, there is a huge gap between academics and industry. This was the main theme that was emphasised by the speakers at the conference.

The conference aimed at promoting the quality of Pharmaceutical education and research through industry-institute interaction with the sharing of knowledge, experiences, and innovations. Furthermore, the conference provided the Pharmacy students an exposure to decide on their career.

Apart from Dr. Montu Kumar Patel, other eminent personalities from the field of pharmacy including Dr. Biswajit Mukherjee, Chairman of Organizing Committee, Professor and former HOD, Department of Pharmaceutical Technology, Jadavpur University; Dr. R.S.Thakur, Former Secretary, PCI; Dr. Sankhadip Bose, Vice Chairman, Organizing Committee and Secretary, APTI Bengal Branch were present. Over the course of two days, these experts from the field of Pharmacy shared their insights about the recent trends in this domain. The students also got the chance to showcase their innovations through the poster presentations.

These events are expected to enhance the skills of the students and prepare them for the professional world.
