Eminent academicians and industry professionals attend National Conference on 'Biotechnology and One Health' at BWU

Seminars and conferences are part and parcel of a student's life who is pursuing higher studies. Brainware University provides the opportunity to its students to attend national conferences and seminars so that they can get industry exposure to the disciplines that they are pursuing. The Department of Biotechnology organised the 2-day 2nd National Conference on 'Biotechnology and One Health' on June 10 and 11, 2022.

This national-level conference has a mission of encouraging and dissemination of scientific knowledge on social, environmental, and biological disciplines to people of all walks of life and among all strata of society in India and abroad. Prof. Sib Sankar Roy, CSIR-IICB, Kolkata was the keynote speaker at the conference. He spoke about the collaborative, multispectral, and transdisciplinary approach of 'One Health'. One Health in hand with Biotechnology is gaining recognition globally as an effective way to fight health issues at the human-animal-environment interface.

The two-day conference witnessed various other eminent speakers including Prof.(Dr.) Anupam Basu, DBT-NIBMG, Kalyani; Prof. (Dr.) Shampa Das, Bose Institute; Prof. (Dr.) Samir Ranjan Sikdar, Bose Institute and others.

At the inauguration ceremony of the National Conference, the 'Book of Abstracts' was released by the keynote speaker Prof. Sib Sankar Roy.

The conference was also a good platform to share their insights on the subject through paper and poster presentations. The themes of the posters displayed by the students ranged from oyster mushroom cultivation, waste management and its use in irrigation, cirrhosis of liver, genetic disorders, etc. The Biotechnology students from various reputed institutions presented papers sharing their insights and innovations on the subject.

The frequent seminars and conferences at Brainware University provide the opportunity to the students to interact with skilled industry professionals which in turn help them to upgrade as per the requirements of the industry.
