Learning Objectives

Learning Objectives of Department of Chemistry
  • To understand the fundamentals and the applications of chemical and scientific theories including those in Inorganic, Organic and Physical Chemistry.
  • To develop analytical problem solving skills in the major areas of chemical study and to understand the different theoretical principles that explain chemical behaviour at the subatomic, atomic, molecular, and macroscopic levels.
  • The ability to work effectively and safely in a laboratory environment through the development of  laboratory skills, including preparative techniques, handling of toxic chemical compounds, methods for the disposal of chemical waste and usage of different instrumentation.
  • To develop an integral knowledge about environment and different environment related issues through Environmental science courses.

Learning Outcomes

  • Students will understand the central role of chemistry in our society, environment and in energy, health and medicine.
  • Students will be able to explore new areas of research in both chemistry and interdisciplinary fields of science and technology.
  • Students will be skilled in problems solving, critical thinking and analytical reasoning.
  • Students will be able to design, carry out, record and analyze the results of chemical experiments.
  • Their strength in quantitative problem solving will help to prepare themselves for higher-level of studies.
