Rashritya Ekta Diwas

Together we make India strong

On the occasion of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day, 31st October) in memory of Sardar Patel, the Department of Media Science and Journalism organised an intra-departmental speech competition on November 1, 2021 (Monday) at 4pm. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel played an important role in the integration of many Indian princely states to make an Indian federation. The event started with pledge taking. Later students participated in the event and narrated the glory of Sardar Patel in Hindi, Bengali and English focusing on the concept of unity. Through their speech they highlighted how the idea of unity in diversity has always been a crucial part of the conception of India and as its citizens it is then our legacy to protect it. It was clear from the students’ heartfelt speeches that love for our motherland is what binds us together in spite of our differences. Let us together tide through the challenges and the opportunities of the future, united as a nation of brave hearts. The event turned out to be successful and ended with a pledge of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas by promising for the purpose of unification of the nation.

Online Workshop on Infographics

The Department of Multimedia, Brainware University was pleased to organize an Online Workshop on Infographics on 30th October 2021, 5.00 pm. Mr. Arindam Mazumdar led the engaging workshop Drawing on his vast experience of over 20 years working as a senior graphics designer at reputed news outlets like Ananda Bazar Patrika and The Statesman. Mr. Mazumdar explained how in a world that is largely obsessed with visual representation, infographics become a creative way for representing and spreading information. “You will have no shortage of clients, from government agencies to MNCs all depend upon infographics,” he said. He introduced students to expert strategies to create interesting infographics and shared resources and databases where students can practice making them.


Webinar on Career Opportunities in Horticulture with special reference to micro green cultivation

The Department of Agriculture, Brainware University presented students with a wonderful opportunity to learn about the market trends and demands. The Webinar on Career Opportunities in Horticulture with Special Reference to Micro Green Cultivation was organised on October 30, 2021 at 3 PM. Dr. Arindam Barman (Department of Horticulture, North Eastern Hill University) was the special guest for the occasion. Dr. Barman shed light on the niche areas of steady development in the field of horticulture. Opportunities abound, the speaker confirmed in both government and private sector in India for agriculture graduates. “Since India is a leading producer of agricultural products in the world, job opportunities are endless,” he advised. Microgreens, the speaker revealed, was one such area of rapid development thanks to a growing sense of health-consciousness in the general public. Microgreens which overcome the constraints of space while being nutritionally dense is the food for the future. Dr. Barman also shared insiders’ knowledge about job opportunities in his field.


Entrepreneurship and Innovation as Career Opportunity: Careers in Securities Markets

Entrepreneurship has become a significant career choice for the youth. To motivate the students, the School of Management & Commerce organized a workshop on ‘Entrepreneurship and Innovation as Career Opportunity: Careers in Securities Markets’ on October 28, 2021 from 4:30 PM. Reshma Shaikh, (Assistant Manager Marketing and Corporate Communication, National Institute of Securities) was the guest speaker of this event.
Shaikh initiated the discussion with the origin and evolution of Securities markets.She then moved on to an explanation of the different types of Securities markets and future of Securities markets to allow students to gain a distinct understanding of the state of the field. She mentioned the importance of having a certification from NISM and discussed their career boosting certified courses which may help students fulfill their entrepreneurial dream.


Workshop On “On and Off Body Radio Channel Performance Of a Dual Band Planner Inverted F Antenna”

What is the latest technology that’s raising the stakes in the field of patient care and healthcare monitoring? The Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering organised a Workshop On “On and Off Body Radio Channel Performance Of a Dual Band Planner Inverted F Antenna '' on October 28, 2021 on 4 PM to help prepare them for the industry. Dr. Mohammad Monirujjaman Khan, (Professor, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering) was the guest speaker for the event. He explained how Body-centric Wireless Communications(BCWC) is an emerging technology which has great potential for applications in healthcare for patient monitoring by placing sensors.

Webinar on Cyber Security Awareness

The Department of Cyber Science & Technology, Brainware University jointly organized an online technical awareness session on Cyber Security in collaboration with ISOAH Data Securities Pvt. Ltd. The event was conducted on October 30, 2021 with the primary objective of observing the CyberSecurity Awareness month of October. To grace the occasion, Mr. Debraj Basak, Security Research Analyst, ISOAH Data securities Pvt. Ltd. was invited as the guest speaker. The overarching theme for Cybersecurity Awareness Month 2021 was “Do Your Part. #BeCyberSmart.” Highlighting the relevance of the session, the speaker said, “Awareness of cybersecurity empowers individuals and organizations to own their role in protecting their part of cyberspace. If everyone does their part – implementing stronger security practices, raising community awareness, educating vulnerable audiences or training employees – our interconnected world will be safer and more resilient for everyone.” Beginning with Ransomware and Phishing attacks, Mr. Basak explained the process of safe internet shopping and warned about risks behind Public Wi-Fi and spam e-mails. He also elaborated on the types of hackers and guided the participants on the path of becoming an ethical hacker.

Workshop on Entrepreneurship Know-How 2021

Days of conventional employment are over. Crave your own path. The Department of Computational Science organised a Two-day Workshop on Entrepreneurship Know-How 2021 on October 29 & 30, 2021 at 5 PM to make students aware of the entrepreneurial opportunities open to youngsters. This was part of Brainware University’s larger mission to harness the talents and innovations of youngsters and make them self-reliant. Ms Sreejata Chatterjee (Founder, Head of Product at LeadSift Inc.(Canada) ) was the industry expert for this event. She talked about institutes that help fund entrepreneurship projects and how to craft prototypes for product development. She advised students to learn on the go and use college fests to “test-drive” their projects. The workshop ended with students asking their questions and getting expert advice from the speaker.

Online Intra-University Debate Competition!

Brainware University organized an online Intra- University Debate Competition on October 29-30, 2021. The event saw a robust participation from students in the university with 16 teams participating in heated debate about issues having social and political import. Distinguished judges from Gour Banga University, Hooghly Mohsin College, Surendranath Law College, Raiganj University, Bankura University and the University of Calcutta graced the occasion. After a fierce battle which lasted three intense rounds, two teams made it to the final stages with Suniti Sinha and Samriddhi Sinha emerging winners and Arun Kumar Biswas and Nabamita Bharadwaj occupying the runners-up position. The students displayed great dexterity with their words and the judges were impressed with the manner in which the participants navigated complex social issues creatively, all the while maintaining a competitive, fighting spirit.
